January Managers' Meeting
The California Welcome Center (CWC) managers met in San Francisco on January 27, in conjunction with the Commission meeting. CWC managers are gearing up for a spring consumer survey, which will be conducted at each of the 12 CWCs, with help from California State University students statewide. Consumer interviews are planned for spring, so watch for results late this summer! Progress is being made on the new CWC Web site, which CTTC plans to launch in the spring. Additionally, the CalTrans rest area map and brochure project is well under way - details being fine-tuned. CWC collateral should appear at California rest stops statewide this spring. Finally, site visits are currently being conducted for those organizations who submitted proposals for new Welcome Centers. Oxford Luncheon
The California Welcome Center (CWC) Oxnard was pleased to host a luncheon to honor recently elected representatives to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. Attending the January celebration were Supervisors John Zaragoza and Kathy Long, along with top officials from nearly every city in Ventura County, providing a great opportunity for the CWC staff to showcase its facility and array of visitor services. “We were pleased to have so many civic leaders at our center, many for the first time,” said Janet Sederquist, President and CEO of the Oxnard Convention & Bureau, managing organization of the Oxnard CWC. “We’re very proud of our center, and the resources we provide for California travelers.”
Located where the 101 freeway meets Pacific Coast Highway 1, the Oxnard CWC provides a great stopping point for visitors heading north on the Central Coast, and south into Los Angeles. The center opened officially in May 1997, and assisted close to 50,000 people in its first full year of operation. It features maps and guides, souvenirs, tickets for regional attractions including Disneyland and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and friendly staff to help with travel plans. |
