Marketing Horizons
Culture California
In 2009, CTTC, working with the California Cultural Heritage & Tourism Council (CCHTC), purchased a co-op advertisement in the premiere edition of The Cultural Traveler, a planned annual publication produced and distributed in partnership with the Museum Store Association and the U.S. Culture & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council (USCHTMC). The 40,000 guidebooks will be distributed throughout the year to domestic and international visitors, tour operators and travel partners.

The full-color eight-page co-op insert was anchored by a culture-branded ad along with ads from the following partners: Gamble House, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Pasadena museums, and the J. Paul Getty Museum. CTTC included the 10 top cultural activities available in California, including nature, architecture, museums, missions, movies, wild west, literature, and wine and food.

California Greenin'
California is a golfer’s paradise – from hundreds of courses statewide to the best in golfing luxuries, with hotels, spas, restaurants and tours dedicated to golf, and the best year-round weather to be out on the green. CTTC partnered with members of California’s golf industry to produce The Best of California Golf, the 2009 official California golf publication, which highlights the best hot spots around. The guide will be distributed to 30,000 subscribers of Meetings + Events Magazine, as well as at 18 consumer golf shows throughout the U.S. Additionally, consumers can go to visitcalifornia.com/ golf to learn more about California’s latest and greatest golf treasures.

Shop California
Shop California has a new Chair: Kate Cavaliere, Director of Tourism for Macerich shopping centers. While the economy may be tough, Cavaliere notes that there's no time like the present to form new strategic shop partnerships. "Collaboration is more important than ever," she says. Even with fluctuating exchange rates across the world, shopping continues to be the number one activity for visitors to the U.S.

Shop California is represented at major trade shows and sales missions in key international markets - Mexico, Canada, the U.K., Germany and China. Additionally, representatives attended the New York Media Reception on February 3, providing key California shopping information to influential media. For more information on Shop California and how to become involved, contact Cavaliere at kate.cavaliere@macerich.com or 480.994.8048.
