California Day
On January 15, CTTC brought “California Day” to Mexico City. Along with the in-market team, GMS, CTTC staff conducted three events to market California and the diversity of its product offerings. The day began with a trade breakfast with 70 attendees including American Express, Mundomex and other industry partners. A key partner lunch for 32 guests followed, with attendance by industry leaders including senior staff from SABRE, the U.S. Embassy and airline representatives. The day concluded with an evening media and wine tasting event that was attended by 50 media including print, broadcast and radio.
Bottle Shock in Norway
On January 20, California Tourism sponsored a reception and wine tasting at the U.S. Ambassador to Norway's residence, along with a premier of Bottle Shock. Over 250 people gathered at Ambassador Benson Whitney's residence to celebrate Inauguration Day, taste U.S. wines and watch the pre-release of the movie. The networking atmosphere enabled people to discuss American interests and business in an informal and relaxed way. We experienced great response on California as an interesting destination, and received great press coverage. Click here to see the invitation.
United with China
From January 27 to February 2, California played host to 16 travel trade and media from China, in partnership with United Airlines. As the U.S. is relaxing its Visa restrictions with China, this was a great opportunity to educate United's top partners about the California product. Fam participants started in San Francisco, enjoying time at Pier 39 and exploring different hotels. After a stop at the Gilroy Premium Outlets, the group headed to Monterey for a visit to the Aquarium and a Celebrity Movie Tour. The next day was spent cruising down the Central Coast, stopping in San Luis Obispo before overnighting in Santa Barbara. Another day was devoted to L.A., where the group enjoyed Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and LA LIVE. On the fifth day, the group had a special opportunity to enjoy Chinese New Year at Disneyland, then headed back to San Francisco on the last day to explore Union Square and other major attractions.
